BIOGRAPHY

Maria (Mia) Andersson (b.1978 in Motala) is an artist living in Stockholm. Her practice deals primarily with aspects of spatial organisation and transformation and the shaping of a society. Her works span many mediums, including video, text and textile, performance, spatial installations and public interventions. She holds a BA from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London and an MFA from Konstfack in Stockholm.

She has been involved in several self-organised initiatives and long-term collaborative projects. One of them is Ett rum med utsikt/A Room With A View with artist Eva Arnqvist, Karin Lindh and architect Adriana Seserin.

Since 2012 she is collaborating with artist Nancy Atakan, Istanbul. Their research about Ling Gymnastics as a modernist project in Sweden and Turkey have resulted in several separate and joint works.
